SCARS
Una película. Una cicatriz. One movie. One scar.
Every movie you finish leaves a mark: a Scar. It doesn’t say how good the movie was or how scary it was; it simply certifies that you watched it and survived that night of the challenge.
That’s why you don’t collect points, stars or medals here: you collect SCARS.
The October maximum is 31 Scars. Reaching certain ranges unlocks a new badge.

De Dead Meat a SurvivorFrom Dead Meat to Survivor
The challenge is a little 31-night horror movie. At first you understand nothing and you’re easy prey. As you collect Scars you learn to get lucky, to hide, to face the danger and to make it further than everyone else. Only whoever finishes all 31 movies can call themselves a Survivor. Each badge is the character you’ve become.
0–4 Scars
Dead Meat
Ni sabes qué está pasando. You have no idea what's going on.
You walked into the movie without knowing the rules. You hear a noise and go check it out, you split from the group and you probably open the door nobody should open. At this stage you haven't shown any special survival instinct yet. You're the character the audience looks at and thinks: “this one won't make it to the second act.” It doesn't mean you're out of the challenge; it means you've just started and, in horror-movie terms, you're still Dead Meat.
“No tienes estrategia. No strategy. You're just figuring out what kind of movie you landed in.”
5–9 Scars
Lucky One
Corriste con suerte.You got lucky.
You've survived long enough to realize something weird is going on, though maybe not thanks to brains, bravery or experience. The door slammed behind you, the monster picked someone else, or you just ran in the right direction. You're still here because of that stroke of luck that, in the movies, separates the first victim from the character who makes it a few minutes further.
“No sabes exactamente cómo sobreviviste… pero sobreviviste. You don't know exactly how you survived… but you survived.”
10–15 Scars
Hider
Aprendiste a esconderte… por ahora. You learned to hide… for now.
After enough nights you've figured out a basic rule of horror: you don't always have to face what's out there. Sometimes surviving means turning off the light, keeping quiet and finding a good hiding spot. The problem is that in a horror movie no hiding spot lasts forever. You can buy time, but sooner or later something will open that door. Hider recognizes the participant who has developed a survival instinct but still lives by avoiding the fight.
“Te escondiste y funcionó. La pregunta es cuánto tardarán en encontrarte. You hid and it worked. The question is how long until they find you.”
16–20 Scars
Hero
Decidiste hacerte el héroe. You decided to play the hero.
You could keep hiding or look for the exit, but now you do what so many horror characters end up regretting: you go back. You help someone, look into what's going on or decide to face the threat head-on. That might keep you alive a little longer and make you the hero of the story… but the genre has taught us something important: heroes die too. Hero doesn't guarantee survival; it means you stopped being just a victim.
“Podías escapar. Decidiste regresar. Buena suerte. You could have escaped. You chose to go back. Good luck.”
21–30 Scars
Final Girl
Llegaste más lejos que todos. You made it further than anyone.
Has atravesado prácticamente toda la película. You've made it through practically the whole movie. You watched characters fall, learned the rules, ran, hid and faced whatever was chasing you. Now you're in the final act. Final Girl is used here as a tribute to the great slasher archetype: the person who, against all odds, is still there when almost everyone else is gone. It doesn't matter who you are; in the DZM challenge, getting this far means you're the one left standing before the final showdown.
“Llegaste al final. Pero todavía falta una última noche. You made it to the end. But there's still one last night.”
31 Scars
Survivor
Solo existe una manera de obtenerla: terminar. There's only one way to earn it: finish.
It isn't given for trying, for getting close or for watching almost all of them. Survivor belongs only to whoever finishes all 31 movies of the challenge. After 31 nights you're no longer Dead Meat, you don't depend on luck, you don't need to hide and you've already made it through the final act. You survived the whole calendar. This is the top badge and the ultimate trophy of the 31 Nights of Halloween.
“31/31. Sigues aquí. Eres Survivor.31/31. You're still here. You're a Survivor.”
Cuatro preguntas, cuatro sistemasFour questions, four systems
SCARS¿Cuántas películas del reto has completado? How many of the challenge movies have you finished?
We’re not looking to verify, audit or demand proof that anyone watched a movie. Each participant keeps their own count and earns a Scar when, in good faith, they consider they finished the movie.
The badges aren’t a prize for proving anything to anyone; they’re a fun way to recognize your journey through the 31 nights. There are no horror police and no pop quizzes here: if you say you watched it, we trust you.
1 película vista = 1 Scar. Tú llevas la cuenta.1 movie watched = 1 Scar. You keep count.
Una última cosa…One last thing…
You can mark a movie you didn’t watch, add a Scar you didn’t earn and even show off a badge that isn’t yours. Nobody will check. But when October 31 comes, you’ll know the truth: whether you really survived the 31 nights…
